2019 Stellar 7 Over 70 Award Recipients
Mr. Douglas Butler
Doug volunteers and advocates for causes that positively impact the local community and environment. He was recently recognized with an award from the Kiwanis Club of Winchester for 70 years of perfect meeting attendance.
Ms. Vicky Edwards
Vicky is the longest-tenured volunteer at Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area (LVWA) and created LVWA’s computer program. She volunteers her time and talents for literacy and other causes within the greater community.
Mrs. Diedra Kriewald
Diedra is an ordained minister in the Methodist church and holds a doctorate in historical theology. She personifies a lifetime of spiritual, academic and personal achievement. She is highly revered by all who know her as a mentor, scholar and community leader.
Mrs. Jacquetta Owen
Jacquetta is an educator and a daily source of creative expression and inspiration. She enriches the lives of people of all ages, and most especially children, every day through many teaching and volunteer activities.
Mr. John Tyson
John continues to inspire those who know him through his decades of local volunteerism to help those in need throughout the local community. John currently serves as a member of the Shenandoah University School of Business Advisory Board and mentors through the Shenandoah University Leadership and Mentoring Program.
Mr. James R. Wilkins Jr.
Since turning 70, Jimmy has aided in raising $10 million for the Winchester Medical Center Cancer Foundation and $25 million for The Shenandoah University Athletic Center Field House and Community Center. Jimmy’s passion and enthusiasm for our local area is infectious and inspires others in the community to follow his lead.
Mr. Joseph Young
Joe is an avid bicyclist who bikes 125 miles per week and is a member of the Winchester Wheelmen Bike Club. In 2017, Joe rode a 25-mile course raising money for Lymphoma research. His dedication to fitness has earned him the nicknames “Superman” and “Mighty Joe.”
