Sheila Blaner joined The Village at Orchard Ridge as social services director in May 2020 and brings her 30 years of experience in social work. Blaner has a wide array of experiences working with seniors, adults, children, and families in various settings, including nursing homes, skilled rehabilitation, hospitals, schools and home settings.
Her extensive knowledge in family and group support, foster care, guardianship, community resources, mental health, dementia, developmental disabilities, autism, and behavior challenges makes her a powerful advocate for the people she works with. Blaner always strives to represent her clients’ best interests.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Blaner has a younger brother and two grown children in North Dakota whom she enjoys visiting. She was very close to her grandparents and appreciates reminiscing about the impact they had on her life. Blaner graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s in social work. She relocated to Virginia in 2011 and is thankful for the wonderful opportunities she has found here. Outside of work, Blaner enjoys quiet moments in nature and occasional bear visitors to her home, visiting the beach, reading, and going to antique shops.
