National Lutheran Communities & Services Unveils New Name for Annapolis Retirement Community

February 6, 2017

Rockville, MD- National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) unveils a new name for its continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Annapolis. The community, previously known as The Village at Crystal Spring, will now become The Village at Providence Point—A National Lutheran Community.

Last month NLCS announced new plans to pursue the CCRC as a standalone concept, allowing NLCS to expedite services to seniors in the underserved market of Annapolis. Since the CCRC is no longer part of the previous mixed-use proposal, it was fitting to rebrand the CCRC with a new name.

“To help people understand this new project, we felt it was important to distinguish the differences. Starting fresh with a new name—The Village at Providence Point—will begin to help do that,” said NLCS’ President & CEO Larry Bradshaw.

The Village at Providence Point has significant meaning for the NLCS development team.

“Our marketing and branding team put their heads together and came up with this new name. The term providence became very important and influential in our research,” Courtney Malengo, director of NLCS’ communications, said. “Historically speaking, Providence was the original name of Annapolis. As a faith-based, not-for-profit, the term providence references God’s guidance and care. It also means timely preparation for future eventualities—in planning for retirement and health care, this is precisely what seniors are doing.”

NLCS intends to file formal plans for The Village at Providence Point by Spring of 2017. Prior to the filing, community informational sessions will be available.
