The Village at Orchard Ridge—A National Lutheran Community celebrated progress on Phase 2 expansion with a grand opening of its Engage Center on Wednesday, June 1. Orchard Ridge’s Phase 2 began in January 2015 and so far, has seen the addition of 18 cottages, the 150-seat expansion of the dining area, and a 15,000-square-foot wellness center, called the Engage Center.
The Engage Center’s conceptual idea was to have all health and wellness activities under one roof, which contains a lap pool, exercise pool and spa. It also includes an expanded gym, an art room, a physical therapy room, a multipurpose room and a massage studio. Residents are excited about the additional amenities and opportunity to remain active and connected.
During the ceremony, President and CEO Larry Bradshaw thanked the residents for their continued patience and trust, as they all faced initial uncertainty over the outcome of the various projects. Further remarks were made by residents John Bodanske, Susan Daily, Barbara Alderman and Executive Director Melissa Fortner. The event was well attended with 300 residents, staff, family members and local media including The Winchester Star and Northern Virginia Daily.
Remaining projects under Phase 2 include the addition of 104 independent living apartments and 10 skilled-nursing suites. Completion of the project is expected by the end of the year.
