Orchard Ridge Opens Health Center

May 30, 2013

The Village at Orchard Ridge—A National Lutheran Community (TVOR) opened the doors of its on-campus health center—Orchard Woods Health Center, which offers assisted living memory care, nursing care and short-term rehabilitation services.

On Tuesday, May 28 the assisted living memory care neighborhood welcomed its first residents, featuring 14 private suites, two double-occupancy suites, a memory garden that facilitates outdoor strolls and stimulation in a secure environment, along with a salon and common spaces.  Amenities include daily housekeeping, laundry, transportation services, all meals and life enrichment activities. The nursing care and short-term rehabilitation neighborhood of Orchard Woods Health Center will open at the end of the summer.

“The core concept of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) is that residents have access to health care amenities should they ever need them.  At TVOR, we strive to preserve independence and choice by bringing health care services to a resident in the comfort of their residence on campus,” Executive Director John Midolo said. “Orchard Woods Health Center will provide more intensive health care services in a residential setting. It truly means that services are rendered in a space where all residents experience a home-like atmosphere, rather than an institutional setting.”

Residents began moving into TVOR in February 2013, with more than 200 residents currently calling TVOR home. The opening of the Chapel in May will mark the completion of phase one’s construction.  A free, community-wide Grand Opening Celebration that is open to the public will occur on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. featuring caregiving and wellness advocate Joan Lunden.
